This UK-based customer delivers tailored services for medical equipment and pharmaceutical companies, providing efficient logistics and inventory management solutions in and en route to hospitals.
These services create transparency regarding stock levels, product usage and availability, while saving manufacturers time and money. In this way, they reduce the workload of external sales forces and hospital staff so that they have more time for their core tasks.
Having acquired a new storage facility in Birmingham, the customer was seeking a specialist partner to design and implement the fit-out of the new facility.
PD Industrial was one of several potential suppliers to be approached with the brief which included requirements for pallet racking, mezzanine flooring, fire protection and insulation.
Following the presentation of designs, PD Industrial was selected to deliver the project as their design and implementation plan incorporated all aspects of the brief, within the required timescales, and was adjudged to be the most professional approach.
“Their design and implementation plan incorporated all aspects of the brief, within the required timescales, and was adjudged to be the most professional approach.”
Work onsite began within two weeks of the award of the contract with the construction of pallet racking for 1,350 pallet locations followed by a double-skin partitioning enclosure with an insulated roof.
Our team here at PD Industrial started by installing a fast-closing door to ensure minimal temperature change during loading and unloading. This was an important requirement for potentially susceptible pharmaceutical products and supplies.
The fit-out design was completed with a 350m2 mezzanine floor, lighting, and one-hour fire protection. Two additional mesh enclosures and an air curtain were also installed, along with static shelving on both the ground floor and the mezzanine floor to create picking locations for smaller items, to maximise storage capacity and operational efficiency.
The project was completed within the challenging timeframe of two to 2 months, with most of the installation completed within the first two weeks to satisfy the client’s requirements
