The challenge

The client needed us to double the picking space within their existing distribution centre whilst minimising any disruptions to their daily operations.

Our solution

Using our innovative skate system, we were able to maneuver their existing uprights quickly and effectively, relocating their long span shelving into smaller aisle widths. The move consisted of 3 runs of 10 bays and 3 runs of 5 bays.  We removed only the bottom run and the stock was left on the shelving during the move. This alone saved the client time,  removing the need for restocking shelves.

The results

Our unique skate system allowed us to bring the project completion time down by 40%, exceeding even our own estimates. The staff at the distribution centre were able to continue their day-to-day activities as normal with minimal interruption, and the final result gave OnLogistics their desired outcome of double the amount of picking space. Done and dusted by lunchtime, both parties were more than happy with the result!

“The initial site visit estimated a day to complete the move, but after arriving on site at 8am, the team were all but finished by 11:30am This allows us to re-evaluate our stock and gain more space with very minimal preparation!”
